It's Friday, Friday, got to get your fresh metal fix on Friday. That's right Maniacs it is finally Friday which means it is time to kick off the weekend with some Friday Fire.
With so many new metal releases dropping every week, it can be hard to know what to listen to, so we've taken it upon ourselves to do the heavy lifting, sorting the 'hell yeah' from the 'hell meh' you don't have to. So without fear or favour, here are is our Friday Fire: Five New Tracks We're Feeling This Friday.
Void Of Vision - VAMPYR
Melbourne's Void Of Vision released their new EP Chronicles I: Lust today and it is the most straight-up heavy collection of tracks they've ever dropped. The standout though is VAMPYR a fierce anthem about fighting against toxic and abusive behaviour in the Aussie music scene. The anger from frontman Jack Bergin here burst out of the speakers with the intensity of a flamethrower. This is a rager with an important message from a band who are maturing and evolving with every release. Read our interview with Jack Bergin for a more in-depth look at the track and the EP as a whole.
LUNE - Factory Fires/Funeral Pire (Outward)
LUNE premiered this barnstorming track via Maniacs on Wednesday, and we can't get enough of it!
Sonically punishing and relentless, Factory Fires/Funeral Pyre, ponders the colossal weight of our impending doom through the prism of a parent trying to allay the fears of a child. It is a thoughtful and provoking exploration of our seemingly assured global self-destruction that is sure to activate mosh pits nationwide.
Don Broco- Endorphins
Endorphins is an unmistakable slice of Don Broco’s power, delivering yet another pulsating and infectious anthem. Overflowing with monstrous riffs, jagged synths, pummelling drums and a towering irresistible chorus, the track sees them blend their light and dark sides together. Endorphons is lifted off of their album Amazing Things which was released today.
Obscura - When Stars Collide
Fast cars and even faster guitars are what you get on Obscura's When Stars Collide. Virtuosic frontman Steffen Kummerer and his renowned bandmates let it ride on the latest single from their upcoming album A Valediction! When Stars Collide even features a striking clean vocal guest performance by their label mate Björn 'Speed'Strid besides the band's unpreceded polyrhythms and solos. It's a whole lot of metal fun!
Impending Doom - Satanic Panic
US Christan death metal band Impending Doom come out swinging on their first new song in three years, Satanic Panic. A ferocious track that showcases the band's growth, this barnstormer is lifted from their upcoming EP Hellbent. According to vocalist Brook Reeves, Satanic Panic was written about "the occult and ritual abuse reaching to the elite but in the end, God has the final judgement" which sounds much cooler than it probably is. Whatever the meaning, you can tell he means it because this is an undisputed rager.
