Key members from four of the MySpace era's biggest emo and post-hardcore acts, My Chemical RomanceCoheed & CambriaCirca Survive and Thursday, have come together to form the band L.S. Dunes

Scene luminaries guitarist Frank Iero (My Chemical Romance), guitarist Travis Stever (Coheed and Cambria), vocalist Anthony Green (Circa Survive), bassist Tim Payne (Thursday), and drummer Tucker Rule (Thursday) have joined forces to create L.S. Dunes, after announcing their arrival on the scene via the frenzied debut single Permanent Rebellion, the band has now issued the blistering and dramatic 2022.

Vocalist Anthony Green explains the inspiration behind 2022 which arrives accompanied by a psychedelic animated video.

“I wrote 2022 when I was struggling to communicate the pain that I was in during the pandemic. I survived an overdose the previous year and was feeling like I would never be free of the obsession to get high, or just get out of my own skin and that I was only going to continue to hurt everyone I loved. It was a cop-out and easier for me to write a song rather than get honest and real with the people in my life–cry for help in a way. If there’s a positive take away, it’s that it’s never a burden to the people you love to share your feelings no matter how dark or painful it might be.”

Unshackled from the expectations and aesthetics of their already successful careers, L.S. Dunes super-charges their heavy anthems with punk energy into a sound, unlike anything that has come before it.

My Chemical Romance released their first new original song since 2014, Foundations of Decay earlier this year.

Slow building, brooding, anthemic, drenched in emotion and yet somehow still bleeding jubilation, the six-minute track is a reminder of why My Chemical Romance are the undisputed icons of the MySpace era.

The band are currently tearing it up in arenas throughout the USA on the first leg of their enormous reunion run.

Alongside the expected hits, the band have been keeping their sets interesting, by digging deep into their repertoire. So far the first few dates of the tour have featured them busting out a bunch of songs that they haven't played live for a long, long time.  It's an approach that is creating a lot of hype amongst their dedicated fanbase, with speculation as to what they might pull out next, dominating a lot of discussions.

For fans in Australia who still have a few months to wait until the band's long-awaited return to our shores, the inclusion of deep cuts like Hang 'Em High, Bury Me In Black, This Is The Best Day Ever and The World Is Ugly on overseas setlists is only increasing the anticipation levels. With the band not due to reach these shores until March, we've compiled a bunch of fan footage of all the unexpected songs that Gerard Way and co. have been ripping through lately
