Turnstile have secretly gone pop-punk. The Baltimore hardcore phenoms have debuted a pop-punk track titled Listening via an episode of the Netflix series I Think You Should Leave. Released under the moniker The Everything-You-Knows, Listening is credited to Brendan Yates, Pat McCrory, Daniel Fang and Franz Lyons, the exact same musical collective the world typically knows as Turnstile. The song, which you can listen to below also features a guest rap from Alexandra Ornelas.
Scoring a beloved Netflix series is the latest example of how Turnstile's globe-conquering full-length Glow On continues to open up new opportunities for the band. No detail is available as to whether further music by The Everything-You-Knows exists, but if it does, it could serve as a timely stop-gap for fans craving a follow-up to Glow On. Listening also serves as further proof of the band's desire to explore collaborative opportunities, with vocalist Brendan Yates discussing his fondness for collaboration in an interview with Maniacs in 2021.
It is always exciting to be able to work with an outside person that's not in the band. It sometimes brings a song to life in a different way, one that you didn't or couldn’t have imagined in the first place, which is always an exciting thing.
Turnstile were in Australia earlier this year, when they played a memorable run of headline dates in addition to showstopping performances on the Laneway Festival.
