Rage Against The Machine's  Tom Morello has teamed up with Metal Lords filmmakers to create a 'post-death metal' rager for the fictitious band Skull Flower. Listen to Machinery Of Torment below.

Morello, who also features as a cameo in the film alongside metal legends Rob Halford of Judas PriestKirk Hammett of Metallica and Scott Ian of Anthrax, lets his inner classic metal child run wild on the track, which sounds exactly like what we'd expect a track conjured by a talented bunch of teenage metalheads paying tribute to the gods of metal.

Penned by Game Of Thrones co-creator  D. B Weiss Metal Lords was released by Netlfix over the weekend and tells the story of the wonderfully named fictitious highschool metal band Skull Flower as they overcome many obstacles on the path to representing metal on the hallowed stage of their high school battle of the bands.

Watch the trailer for Metal Lords below.

Morello isn't the first modern god to release music from a fictional metal band recently of course, with Dave Grohl introducing the world to his Dream Widow project inspired by the Foo Fighters' own horror comedy Studio 666 last month.

Morello has been on a bit of a creative tear of late, dropping two full-lenghts in the past twelve months, the most recent of which The Atlas Underground Flood sees the two-time Grammy winner team up with who's who of the musical world.

The result of the extensive collaborative process that Morello went through during the pandemic, The Atlas Underground Flood features Morello teaming up with a diverse array of acts including  Metallica's Kirk Hammett, Nathaniel RateliffJim JamesIDLESBen Harper, Alex LifesonX Ambassadors, Barns Courtney,  recent Every Time I Die collaborators and indie icons Manchester Orchestra, Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness and more on a record that will continue to showcase his signature extraordinary guitar-playing across these 12 new genre-bending tracks.

The Atlas Underground Flood finishes what The Atlas Underground Fire started. Fire and Flood are my London Calling. Admiring The Clash at their apex moment, I sought to make a double album where artistic intent supersedes genre. I aimed to forge a central curated vision to tie together a sonically fearless, wild, and wide-ranging musical ambition with a tremendous cast of collaborators. And of course, there are many guitar solos.”

The Atlas Underground Fire was released in October.
