TheLet The Ocean Take Me was a tour that we’re all going to remember for a while! The Amity Affliction are one of Australia’s top bands at the moment and they put on one hell of a show! We were lucky enough to get some time withJoel Birch in the lead up to the tour, find out what he had to say below!

    1. The Let The Ocean Take Me tour will hit venue sizes of 5000-8000 capacity in the major cities. Tell us about the largest crowd youve ever played to and how you dealt with the nerves.

I think the largest crowd weve played to thus far would have to have been at Soundwave. I dont think nerves really play a part in our shows anymore to be honest, not at that level. There is so much positive energy coming from the crowd when its that big, that its all too easy to get caught up in the moment and totally ignore the fact there are 8000+ people watching you play.

    2. Australia is home to some of the deadliest animals in the world, which are you most afraid of coming into contact with?

Im terrified of snakes. I have an almost irrational fear of them, I can barely even watch them on television hahaha. I think I may be getting better with age, but snakes aredefinitely right up there on the scale of terror for me. I dont think too much on the other animals that can kill you, snakes are the only ones I care about. I surf a lot, Ive seen plenty of sharks, but they honestly keep to themselves for the most part, despite what the major news networks would have you believe at the start of each summer. In fact I surfed just last week not too far from a dead whale carcass, sothere was an abundance of sharks, and predictably, I didnt see any

    3. What song are you most looking forward to hearing from the other bands on this tour?

Gravedigger from Architects. That song is mental. Also Bullet & A Badge from Stray From The Path. I love all the Deez Nuts songs, cant say Ive heard any Issues, but I doubt its my kind of music.

    4. Australians like to think we have the best beer on Earth. Tell us how much you agree and why.

Best beer on earth? I dont know man, Im not a beerconnoisseur to be honest. I like Corona, PBR, and thats about it to tell you the truth hahaha Its nice to have other beers from time to time, but a cold beer is a cold beer to me.

    5. What makes you a MANIAC?

Uhhh I dont really think Im a maniac at all I get pretty worked up watching bodyboard comps, and ice hockey, I guess, but I never go full retard.
