Corey Taylor has released his second solo full-length CMF2.

Released today via Decibel Cooper/BMGCMF2 sees the legendary Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman continue to explore different sides of his musical personality. Taylor not only sings but plays lead and rhythm guitars, piano and mandolin on the release, which packs all the energy, experimentation and forthrightness that's defined his multi-million-selling career as one of the most recognisable voices in rock and metal.

Speaking on the artistic intentions of CMF2, Taylor offers "My first solo album was kind of where I was coming from. This album is more where we're going.”

Previewed by the singles Beyond, Post-Traumatic Blues, Talk Sick and We Are The Rest, CMF2 follows up Taylor’s 2020 solo debut CMFT, which featured hit single Black Eyes Blue and the streaming sensation CMFT Must Be Stopped (feat. Tech N9ne and Kid Bookie).

Opening up on lead single Beyond, Taylor revealed that Beyond harkens back to 2006 in some shape or form. Taylor knew the song was special, but never found the time to bring the tune to its potential.

I originally wrote it as an aggressive romantic song, but I'm also looking at it now as a kind of ‘come together’ song,” Taylor explains. “Bringing the masses together, and letting them know that I want my music to take them beyond what they may think about me. Maybe they’ve had a misconception about me. It’s not exactly a calling card, more like throwing the bat signal up and being ‘aright, let's turn everything on its head.’ It’s almost a dual threat because now I look at it from two standpoints.”

The follow-up single Post Traumatic Blues showcases a far heavier side of the musical spectrum than Beyond, with the iconic voice behind Slipknot and Stone Sour stating that the track is an example of him publicly exorcising some demons.

“‘Post Traumatic Blues’ is my attempt to describe for people what it’s like to deal with PTSD,” says Taylor. “Sometimes it’s so hard for people to understand the ups and downs, the severity of the cold and numbness, that I wanted to try and build a bridge lyrically between the ones living with the disease and the ones who are trying to help them.”

The CMFT band consists of Dustin Robert (drums) Christian Martucci (guitar), Eilot Lorango (bass), Zach Throne (guitar) and of course, Corey Taylor

CMF2 is available to stream now.

While on the promo trail for CMF2 at the Huntington Comic and Toy Convention, Taylor couldn't resist the opportunity to perform the iconic theme song with the voice of Spongebob himself, actor Tom Kenny.  A band backed Taylor and Kenny for the performance. Taylor confessed the one-off duet with Kenny had him a little overwhelmed, revealing he was "the most nervous I’ve ever been in my whole career" before absolutely nailing the performance. You can watch the full song below. Taylor has frequently covered the theme during his solo career, dating as far back as 2011,  so performing it with Kenny impacted him.
