Metallica bassist Rob Trujillo has rejoined one of his old bands, hardcore punk legends Suicidal Tendencies for a live rendition of their classic track I Saw Your Mommy.

The reunion took place during the Suicidal Tendencies support slot on Metallica's M72 date in Phoenix, Arizona over the weekend. While the legendary bassist stepping back into the role he filled on a full-time basis from 1989 through 1995 would have been noteworthy enough, the moment was made even more special by the fact that by doing so Rob also got to shred alongside his teenage son Tye, who is Suicidal Tendencies current touring bass player.

Watch this magical moment for the Trujillo's in beautifully shot fan footage below.

While Australian fans continue to wait for Metallica to announce local dates for the M72 run, the junior Trujillo will be in Australia in November when Suicidal Tendencies celebrate the 40th anniversary of their iconic self-titled debut album, Suicidal Tendencies have announced a tour of Australia for November.

The current lineup of the Venice, California act will hit Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide in mid-November, playing 1983's Suicidal Tendencies in full.  Home to game-changing hit Institutionalized, Suicidal Tendencies is considered a landmark record by both the punk and thrash communities and has had an immense impact on many of the genre's most celebrated acts.

Tickets for the tour, which will see founding member Mike Muir flanked by Ben Weinman (Dillinger Escape Plan), Dean PleasantsTye Trujillo and Greyson Nekrutman, tickets for the tour are on sale now.

It's not the first time Tye has captured out attention, with the then 12-year-old Tye's stint with Korn back in 2017 being the subject of a documentary that wowed nu-metal fans around the globe. Furthermore, Tye was instrumental (quite literally) in the creation of one of the most viral moments in metal this decade, when he contributed to the re-recording of  Metallica's Master of Puppets featured in Stranger Things
