It's Friday, Friday, got to get your fresh heavy fix on Friday.  That's right Maniacs it is finally Friday which means it is time to kick off the weekend by lighting the Friday Fire

With so many new heavy releases dropping every week, it can be hard to know what to listen to, so we've taken it upon ourselves to do the heavy lifting, sorting the 'hell yeah' from the 'hell meh' you don't have to. Now, let's ignite the Friday Fire!

Cradle Of Filth She Is A Fire

Cradle Of Filth, the extreme metal legends led by iconic frontman Dani Filth unleashed a thirst-quencher of epic proportions - their first live album to be released in over 20 years, Trouble And Their Double Lives, set for release on April 28, 2023, via Napalm Records. The announcement arrives accompanied by the new spine-tingling studio track, She is a Fire. Filth shares of the track "This track and the other original track on this album, 'Demon Prince Regent’, were both written after the recording of Existence Is Futile and present a perfect, but not necessarily related, a bridge between our Nuclear Blast days and the forthcoming album on Napalm Records. It was always intended to be a double album, so we just thought, ‘f**k it! Let’s cram some original material on there as well! The absolute worst of both worlds! The song itself is about the epitome of burning passion; the dark inspiration of love and the creature that has ignited it."

    Extreme - Rise

Multi-platinum hard rock heroes Extreme unveiled the video for their new single Rise.  The first track to be released from their upcoming album SIX, out June 9th via earMUSIC, Rise is Extreme doing what Extreme do better than most acts half their age, rocking out. Come for the big hooks, but stay for a blazing Nuno Bettencourt solo. “When Eddie Van Halen passed, it really hit me,” shares Nuno. “I’m not going to be the one who will take the throne, but I felt some responsibility to keep guitar playing alive. So, you hear a lot of fire on the record.”

Goodnight Nurse - All Hail The Serpent Queen Part 3 of 3 (Trilogy) (Holy Hell!)

New Zealand emo legends Goodnight Nurse return after a thirteen-year hiatus with the emo-as-hell All Hail The Serpent Queen Part 3 of 3 (Trilogy) (Holy Hell!). Completing the All Hail The Serpent Queen trilogy that they began on Always & Never and continued on ‘Keep Me On Your Side, All Hail The Serpent Queen Part 3 of 3 (Trilogy) (Holy Hell!) is packed with melodrama and melody. With production coming from Joel Little and mixed by Neal Avron it sounds perfectly suited for their upcoming support slot with My Chemical Romance.

    Drug ChurchMyopic

Hardcore's most beloved agitators Drug Church are back with a colossal new single, Myopic. Out now via Pure Noise RecordsMyopic has all of the hallmarks of Drug Church's instantly appealing sound: pummeling hardcore aggression, hyper-melodic guitar leads, and vocalist Patrick Kindlon's sardonic lyrics and singular delivery. The track leans into the band's unique ability to make distinctly outsider music that’s also welcoming and satisfying. Kindlon discussed the new single, saying, "In varying degrees, you can just let things go. You don't gotta stay angry forever. Being bitter isn't a virtue and people selling it as one, aren't very happy."

    R.U.B Bury Yourself

Brand new Melbourne project R.U.B announce themselves as ones to watch with this frantic punk offering. Lifted from their three-track Demo release, Bury Yourself simmers with riot-grrrl energy that grips you from the opening notes. Clocking in at just a minute and a half, Bury Yourself wastes no time getting you all worked up, hitting you with a frenzy of scuzzy guitars and some unapologetically raw vocals from frontperson Beth. The vocal refrain of "I hope you rot" is one that seems destined to be screamed back at R.U.B in sweaty pubs and dive bars nationwide If you're looking for a local offering that burns with similar rage and spirit to Petrol Girls, then R.U.B absolutely fit the bill and then some. Fuck yeah.

    Still spinning from last week

    Heriot Demure

Fast-rising UK act Heriot continues their pummelling ways on Demure. Lifted off upcoming EP Profond MoralityDemure is a bleak and brooding affair with slow-churning riffs and atmospheric production creating a positively suffocating soundscape. Vocalist Debbie Gough owns this one, dishing up anguished screams and haunting cleans that make the hairs stand up on your arms. The chaotic final moments are sure to activate pits, worldwide. Commenting on Demure, Gough offers "Demure depicts the conflict of remaining integral in a world overwhelmed by scrutiny. It sheds light on the loss of being an individual while attempting the unattainable pursuit of neutrality.”
