Soilwork have confirmed that they intend to continue touring, writing and recording as a band, despite the recent death of guitarist David Andersson

The band has taken to social media today to announce their plans for the future sharing.

"Today marks the 1 month anniversary of Övergivenheten – David’s final work with us."  "He poured so much of himself into this album and together we created something really special. In the wake of last week’s tragic event, we would like to emphasize that we will carry on the musical legacy of this band and continue to present Övergivenheten to our fans, and bring the new songs on the road around the world in David’s memory. We are soon ready to announce upcoming touring activities and as of our announced Australian tour it will move on as scheduled. We would also like to thank everyone for reaching out paying their respect and condolences as well as sharing beautiful memories with this band and David. Thank you for your compassion and understanding."

Andersson's other band, The Night Flight Orchestra, also intend to continue and have released a statement of their own.

"September 14th, in the year of 2022 will be a date that none of us will ever forget. Our guitarist David Andersson shut his eyes forever. It was the day we’ve all dreaded for quite sometime. Our hearts are grieving. As Björn went to visit David for the last time at the hospital, he gave him the blessing to continue the musical journey that they both embarked on some 12 years ago."

David Andersson died at age 47, last week,  following his unexpected and tragic passing, Soilwork shared their thoughts.

“We are deeply saddened today, as we bring the terrible news of David Andersson’s passing,” their statement reads. “He was one of a kind and a brilliant man in so many ways. He was our guitarist for more than 10 years and had a big impact on Soilwork’s musical journey forward. Sadly alcohol and mental illness took you away from us. We will miss him dearly and will continue to carry the musical legacy that he was a part of. Our deepest condolences goes out to his family. Forever grateful for the time we spent with you and all the good laughs. Thank you Dr. Dave. See you on the other side. We encourage everyone to respect the privacy of David’s family and friends in these tragic times.”

Andersson joined Soilwork in 2012, touring the world with the band and contributing to four studio albums. He is heavily featured on the Swedish band's acclaimed new full-length Övergivenheten.

The band will tour Australia this November. Tickets are on sale now.
