This years Reading and Leeds Festival was an interesting lineup to say the least. Usually a pretty commercial event, organizers turned things around with what I’m sure is the heaviest lineup to date.

Friday’s mainstage bill saw: While She Sleeps, a metalcore band from Sheffield, Skindred, a Welsh reggae/nu-metal band, pop punk masters New Found Glory,2013 revelation Bring Me The Horizon, folk-punk singer-songwriter Frank Turner, alt-metal legendsDeftonesandSystem of a Downfollowed by eventual headliners Green Day.

I challenge anyone to find a main stage lineup more alternative and heavier than that in the festivals history. As far as Maniacs are concerned this is an almighty triumph for our scene. We thought we’d share with you a couple of our percieved highlights.

Our friends FIDLAR are notorious for their dramatic live show and Reading got to experience that first hand with a bone-crushing performance of No Waves.

Classic Green Day. Anthemic, original and enigmatic as fuck. What a reception from the crowd.

Is there anyone more suited to festivals than Deftones? Possibly the most climatic band in history and this performance looks off the hook!

Classic punk band Alkaline Trio have earned a status fitting of their slot in this years festival lineup. Here’s a short clip of some of their set.
