Paramore have released their first album in six years This Is Why

Their sixth full-length, This Is Why sees the returning modern rock superstars expand their artistry, exploring new sonic textures and lyrical narratives that present a more mature, confident and raw-sounding Paramore than ever before.

Previewed by three distinctly different singles This Is Why, The News and C’est Comme Ça, This Is Why is a bold, confident and honest statement of intent from a band that continue to simply be themselves.

To celebrate the release of This Is Why Paramore have announced two pop-up stores in Sydney and Melbourne.

Held at Sydney’s Golden Age Cinema this Saturday 11th February, and at Oshi Gallery in Melbourne this Sunday 12th February, the pop-ups will feature brand-new and exclusive merchandise, music, and more available for purchase. To join the event and for more information click here.

This Is Why comes into the world at a time when the excitement surrounding Paramore has never been fiercer, with the band set to embark on a diverse selection of tour dates including a headline performance at the Bud Light Super Bowl Music Fest, joining Taylor Swift on the opening nights of her Eras Tour and an intimate album release show for fans at the iconic The Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville. The band will then set off on a headline tour in support of This Is Why kicking off in South America in March, followed by a UK run in April, and a North American run starting in May. Support across those dates comes from Bloc PartyFoalsThe Linda Lindas and Genesis Owusu

It's a collection of support acts that displays the band's ability to effortlessly drift between genre realms, bringing a unique and exciting experience to their fans in some of the biggest rooms Paramore has ever set foot in. Landmark moments on the tour will include two nights at London’s O2 Arena, two nights at New York’s Madison Square Garden, Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena, Austin’s Moody Center, two nights at Los Angeles’ Kia Forum, Seattle’s Climate Pledge Arena and more before wrapping up in St. Paul, MN at Xcel Energy Center on August 2nd. The band are donating a portion of their ticket sales to organizations working in areas of essential community support, including Support & Feed and REVERB.

Speaking upon the release of the most recent single C’est Comme Ça vocalist Hayley Williams revealed her inspiration for the dark yet danceable track.

“I’m trying to get un-addicted to a survival narrative. The idea of imminent doom is less catastrophic to me than not knowing anything about the future or my part in it. The guys and I are all in much more stable places in our lives than ever before. And somehow that is harder for me to adjust to.”

C’est Comme Ça follows one of Paramore's most striking, agile and frenetic songs to date, The News, which was a showcase for both drummer Zac Farro and guitarist Taylor York's dynamic chemistry, with the pair locking together to create an urgent soundscape over which Hayley Williams unleashes feelings of helplessness and anxiety.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the song, Williams reflects

The News is one of those songs that came together pretty quickly and felt exciting from the start. It feels like a happy medium between classic Paramore angst and bringing in some influences we’ve always had but never exploited. Watching Zac track drums for this one was one of my favorite memories from the studio.  Lyrically, it probably explains itself. The 24-hr news cycle is just impossible to comprehend. And I feel a pang of guilt when I unplug to protect my headspace. The common reaction, or non-reaction, seems to be dissociation. Not one of us is innocent of that and who could blame us?”

The Grammy-winning trio revealed their new album plans in September with the release of the album’s title track. This Is Why, currently climbing streaming and alternative radio charts around the globe - saw the beloved band make their Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon debut in between a run of intimate theatre dates and festival headlines. In what’s widely recognized as one of the most exciting musical returns of the year.
