65'000 Virginia Tech football fans sung Metallica's megahit Enter Sandman so loudly that they registered on a seismograph!
This impressive feat went down over the weekend when the Virginia Tech 'Hokies' played in front of a sold-out home crowd of their maniacal fans for the first time in over a year.
Enter Sandman has been the 'Hokies' walk-on song since the year 2000, with the song slow-burning build, monster groove and anthemic chorus, hitting the perfect dramatic notes to inspire both team and crowd. The entrance has long had a reputation as being one of the best in all of collegiate sport, but this version, powered by so much post-pandemic lockdown passion, truly took things to a whole new level.
Thanks to a college football Reddit users can clearly see the moment that the Enter Sandman entrance is registered on the seismograph below in green.
It obviously worked intimidation and/or inspirational wonders as the 'Hokies' beat the favoured North Carolina 'Tar Heels' 17-10.
Watch the monolithic Metallica singalong for yourself below, it's pretty epic!
Enter Sandman appears on Metallica's technically self-titled 'The Black Album' which turned 30 last month.
