Foo Fighters have shared a heartfelt new song Under You. A reflective modern rock song with some understated '90s emo elements, Under You sounds like the product of a band processing their collective grief through music.

Frontman Dave Grohl's voice evokes a sense of heavy longing  as he sings the lines "Someone said I’ll never see your face again/ Part of me just can’t believe it’s true/ Pictures of us sharing songs and cigarettes/ This is how I’ll always picture you.” that partners well with the desperation of previous single Rescued

Watch the lyric video for Under You below.

Both songs are set to feature on the forthcoming album But Here We Are, which is scheduled for release on June 2nd.  But Here We Are will be the first recorded output from the Foos since the passing of beloved drummer Taylor Hawkins, and it is evident from the two singles released so far, it will be an emotional listen for fans.  Described in a statement as "the first chapter of the band's new life" and a  “brutally honest and emotionally raw response to everything Foo Fighters endured over the last year,” the band once again worked with co-producer Greg Kurstin to create But Here We Are.

The band have today also announced a free live-streaming event. Taking place at 5 am, AEST on Monday, May 22,  Preparing Music For Concerts will see the band perform new songs live, as well as provide access to behind-the-scenes footage. The event is free for fans across the globe, but tickets must be reserved here.

But Here We Are will see the band make good on an earlier promise to fans to continue on as a 'different' band in the wake of Hawkins tragic passing.

In January, Dave Grohl explained the decision to carry on the Foos, stating  "Foo Fighters were formed 27 years ago to represent the healing power of music and a continuation of life. Foo Fighters were formed 27 years ago to represent the healing power of music and a continuation of life. And for the past 27 years we have built a worldwide community, a devoted support system that helped us all get through the darkest of times together. A place to share our joy and our pain, our hopes and fears, and to join in a chorus of life together through music." “Without Taylor, we never would have become the band that we were – and without Taylor, we know that we’re going to be a different band going forward. We also know that you, the fans, meant as much to Taylor as he meant to you. And we know that when we see you again – and we will soon – he’ll be there in spirit with all of us every night.

As was the case with Rescued, there is no mention of who played drums on Under You, so the mystery of who will replace Hawkins on the kit, continues, with fans expecting all to be revealed during the Preparing Music For Concerts event.

Taylor Hawkins was last seen in Australia playing a massive one-off show at GMHBA Stadium in Geelong, Victoria, earlier this month where he was his usual energetic, captivating self, dominating behind the kit and then leading the crowd in a massive cover of Queen's Somebody To Love on vocals. His last known recorded output with the Foo Fighters was their 2021 record Medicine At Midnightwhich picked up three Grammy Awards in April.
