It's springtime and business is really blooming for Sydney melodic hardcore outfit Bloom

Last week they made the massive announcement that they had become the second Australian band to sign with influential US label Pure Noise Records, joining a stacked roster of artists including The Amity AfflictionCounterpartsKnocked Loose and many more. That announcement was accompanied by the release of the epic emotive banger Bound To Your Whispers. The band's first song released under the freshly announced partnership between Pure Noise Records and Melbourne's Greyscale RecordsBound To Your Whispers saw the group again join forces with long-time collaborator Christopher Vernon (Better HalfBelle Haven) to create an exploration of internal disparity and the disconnect between internal doubts and the manipulation of one's self. "Written as a dialogue between the two internal voices, the protagonist is manipulated by their own thoughts, falling into a false sense of security," explains the band.

The single tussles with anxiety and the false sense that accompanies it. Navigating the internal struggle between the voice of reason and the seeds of doubt, Bound To Your Whispers depicts a tale of decline as the protagonist is eventually consumed by their own negative thoughts. Sonically narrated with blazing vocal deliveries and melodic, heavy-hitting instrumentation, Bloom's latest single conjures an emotional listen until its final heartbeat.

In another huge development, in two months time, they'll be hitting the road as part of the lineup for the epic 2023 edition of the Good Things Festival

To celebrate the release of Bound To Your Whispers we caught up with the band to find out the five songs they're most looking forward to seeing when they hit the road for Good Things Festival. With each band member providing a selection it is a boldly eclectic list that showcases the five unique personalities that make up the band's membership and highlights the variety of sonic experiences that this year's edition of Good Things offers attendees.

Top Five Tracks Bloom Can't Wait To See Live At Good Things

    1. Black Fingernails, Red Wine - Eskimo Joe

"An iconic Australian anthem, I have vivid memories of listening to this song on a CD I burnt when I was 10 years old on repeat. I can’t wait to see it live for the huge nostalgia trip!"  Jono Hawkey (Vocals)

    2. Whip It - Devo

"You’ve got to be absolutely kidding, imma be whipping it real good front and centre every night, liquorice style." - Andrew Martin (Bass)

    3. Blueprint- Slowly Slowly

"This song was one of my most-listened to songs last year and I still haven’t had a chance to see it live. I love the mood they’ve managed to create with it. It feels like something from a coming-of-age film soundtrack - super nostalgic vibes. Can’t wait to experience it in person." - Oli Butler (Guitar)

    4. Forgotten - The Plot In You

"I walked away from seeing The Plot in You and Landon Tewers earlier this year incredibly impressed by Landon’s vocal performance, and the solo section before the breakdown in this track is insane. Very keen to see how this hits in a live setting." - Jarod Mclaren (Guitar/Vocals)

    5. お先に失礼します -  Hanabie

"I love Jpop and Kpop and Hanabie have such a chaotic combination of that and heavy music. Really admire the beat switching, sampling and how catchy the riffs and hooks are." - Jack Van Vliet (Drums)

Bound To Your Whispers is out now.
