It's Friday, Friday, got to get your fresh heavy fix on Friday.  That's right Maniacs it is finally Friday which means it is time to kick off the weekend by lighting the Friday Fire

With so many new heavy releases dropping every week, it can be hard to know what to listen to, so we've taken it upon ourselves to do the heavy lifting, sorting the 'hell yeah' from the 'hell meh' you don't have to. Now, let's ignite the Friday Fire!

    Project: Vengeance Cut. Bleed. Repeat

Deathcore supergroup Project: Vengeance serves up an absolutely brutal debut track in the form of Cut. Bleed. Repeat. Featuring five of deathcore's most prominent modern voices, Will Ramos (Lorna Shore), Taylor Barber (Left To SufferDickie Allen (Infant Annihilator), Tyler Shelton (Traitors) and Darius Tehrani  (Spite) Cut. Bleed. Repeat is a fittingly extreme affair. Little is known about their next steps as a group, but if the reception to this debut is anything to judge it by, this has the potential to breathe new life into the deathcore scene.

Closure In Moscow - Better Way

On their first new song in nine years, Melbourne based prog/post-hardcore act Closure In Moscow manage to meld together elements of all their past works while pushing boldly towards the future. Opening with heavily effected vocal intro that wouldn't have felt out of place on 2014's Pink Lemonade, Better Way then transforms via a gloriously upbeat and danceable riff, as vocalist Christopher de Cinque delivers some of the trademark high-pitched vocal hooks that made 2009's First Temple a cult favourite. Their progressive tendencies still find room to shine through, with a gloriously erratic instrumental bridge giving guitarists Mansur Zennelli and Michael Barrett and drummer Salvatore Aidone the chance to showout. The ability to use melody to create cohesion amidst creative chaos has always helped them standout, and Better Way is another example of them doing just that.  Third album Soft Hell will be out on June 6th.

    Enter Shikari - Bloodshot

The third single to be taken from their highly-anticipated forthcoming album A Kiss For The Whole World, Enter Shikari have more questions to pose themselves, and us. As lead vocalist and producer Rou Reynolds explains:

“Every day, I seem to be asking myself “Is this article biased?”, “is this claim true?”, “Should I be more furious about this issue? Or less furious?”, “Am I being manipulated? Provoked? Radicalised by my own ‘tribe’?. Bloodshot is about how hard it is to find truth, and how easy it is to stop thinking for yourself and simply repeat your ‘team’s’ mantras. Everyone’s so fucking angry with everyone else and it’s exhausting. It seems like social media’s main purpose these days is to hypnotise us to hate”.

    Roadrunner United - The Dagger

To celebrate the release of 'Roadrunner United The Concert' on vinyl, Roadrunner Records shared the full video of The Dagger which features Howard Jones (Light The Torch), Robb Flynn (Machine Head), Jeff Waters (Annihilator), Jordan Whelan, Adam Duce (Machine Head), Paul Gray (Slipknot), and Andols Herrick (Chimaira). This song ripped when it was first released and it rips even more now it has been remastered.

The  3LP package, Roadrunner United The Concert is available now via Maniacs.

    HakenSempiternal Beings

Haken's stellar seventh album FAUNA dropped last Friday and Sempiternal Beings is one of its standout tracks. Ross Jennings's vocals and Ray Hearne's drums are particularly inspired on this track, as they are on the rest of FAUNA.  One of those acts that make sense when listened to, rather than written about, this is here to push you in the direction of FAUNA. If you're into the new Periphery album, you'll likely be into this.

    Still spinning from last week

Cradle Of Filth She Is A Fire

Cradle Of Filth, the extreme metal legends led by iconic frontman Dani Filth unleashed a thirst-quencher of epic proportions - their first live album to be released in over 20 years, Trouble And Their Double Lives, set for release on April 28, 2023, via Napalm Records. The announcement arrives accompanied by the new spine-tingling studio track, She is a Fire. Filth shares of the track "This track and the other original track on this album, 'Demon Prince Regent’, were both written after the recording of Existence Is Futile and present a perfect, but not necessarily related, a bridge between our Nuclear Blast days and the forthcoming album on Napalm Records. It was always intended to be a double album, so we just thought, ‘f**k it! Let’s cram some original material on there as well! The absolute worst of both worlds! The song itself is about the epitome of burning passion; the dark inspiration of love and the creature that has ignited it."
