Taylor Hawkins untimely and unexpected passing in March shook the rock world to its core. With no one really sure how to react to the tragic death of the much celebrated Foo Fighters member, musicians and fans alike did what they always do in times of sorrow, turned to music for comfort and understanding. Over the weekend 1000 of those musicians came togehter to pay a moving musical tribute to their brethren and hero, Taylor Hawkins, playing a 1000 member cover of the Foo Fighters track My Hero.  The perfomance took place as part of the Rockin' 1000 concert in Paris at the Stade de France, featured notable musicians Fever 333's Aric Improta and Telephone drummer Richard Kolinka performing alongside 998 others.

The moving tribute is made even more significant when you consider that the origin of the Rockin' 1000 group was 1,000 musicians coming together to learn and perform Foo Fighters' Learn to Fly in hopes of reaching Dave Grohl and inspiring him to play a Foos show in Cesena, Italy at which some of the band members ended up being invited to play the track with the Foos.

If this heartfelt tribute has you wanting to reconnect with the music of Taylor Hawkins and you're not sure where to start, there are worse places than our Best Of Taylor playlist.  Hawkins last known recorded output was the Foo Fighters 2021 record Medicine At Midnightwhich picked up three Grammy Awards in April.

Hawkins was last seen in Australia playing a massive one-off show at GMHBA Stadium in Geelong, Victoria, earlier this month where he was his usual energetic, captivating self, dominating behind the kit and then leading the crowd in a massive cover of Queen's Somebody To Love on vocals.
