Peripheryhave always been prolific. Their ambitious yet accomplished self-titled debut
started it all for the extraordinary gents of djent with last years CLEAR EP
showing just how truly collaborative and intimidatingly innovative, they can be.
No new album could possibly represent the scope of their vision, so they
created Juggernaut : Alpha and Juggernaut Omega - a two album concept which is
indeed the destroyer of worlds! Maniacs spoke to guitarist Adam “Nolly” Getgood.

    The
whole album is one overarching story. Nolly begins slowly, conscious to allow the
    concept behind Juggernaut to fully
unfold. But there is a very noticeable shift in the direction of the story
about half way through. Just in the interest of keeping it very listenable,
being able to develop two different artworks and two different sides of the story we thought it would be a cool
idea to separate them out into two different albums. Also musically because
theres such a strong shift in the storylineit takes quite a darker turn in
    the second half.

On previous records the music was very mainly written by Misha (Mansoor -
Guitarist). This album is really quite new territory for us. It involves a lot
of learning and growing. He continues of the complexity involved with creating
such an aspirant project. Wed sit down
and go through all sorts of brainstorming sessions on every aspect, from the
sound, to the lyrics and everyone in the band really contributed. The result is
a lot more colourful when you listen to the album. For us its very cool too because
we dont listen to any song and feel its like anything that weve done before.
Every song really has quite a different vibe from anything weve put out in the
past. It took quite a lot of practice, a
lot of learning how to communicate things properly because any collaboration of
six members is in danger of having too many chefs. But we ended up with
something far greater than any one of us could have written on our own so Im
sure its going to be the way that we continue going.

Its not just the music and challenges outlined
by Nolly that contribute to Peripherys expanding creative universe.

This record was heavily driven by the story and the concept behind it. He
offers, venturing into the dual narrative explored throughout Alpha and Omega. What I imagine will
happen is there will be a reaction: since weve done this well probably want
to go in a different direction, rather than repeating ourselves. Just like this
is kind of a reaction to the last album we put out. Who knows what the next one
    exactly will be?

No concept worth its salt shirks on the artwork
an aspect having two albums also allows the band to expand upon.

    Justin
Randall is an amazing graphic novelist and artist. Someone that Matt (Halpern Drums) has been a fan of for some time
he actually has a tattoo designed by Justin on his arm. He expressed an
interest in working on our art and of course that was a huge honour for us. We
thought it would be great to have art that actually reflects the story in
whats going on at each point, so he came up with some really incredible pieces
after we outlined the story to him. I honestly think its something that could
work extremely well in a graphic novel format. Its a very dark story. Theres
also a whole universe around the world in which the concept takes place, its
something which could be expanded upon in future. There are no concrete plans
    about thatyet!

Juggernaut - Omega features the Juggerdoc documentary, allowing fans to
peak behind the shroud of mystery surrounding the project, however, Periphery
fans are no doubt very keen for is to see it performed live in Australia.

We dont have specific plans, but that would be
amazing. Nolly suggests of returning to Australia to tour Juggernaut. We all
love touring Australia. I imagine in the second half [of 2015] its very
possible! Thank you so much supporting us and I hope you enjoy the new albums.

Now the Juggernaut has been unlashed, it is
    impossible to stop!
