Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich's sons, Layne Ulrich and Myles Ulrich have shared a new single The Middle and announced the debut album by their band Taipei Houston

Once Bit Never Bored will drop on November 3 via C3 Records. The record will see drummer Myles and bass player/vocalist Layne step out of their famous fathers' shadow with their indie/alt-rock vibes.

The announcement of Once Bit Never Bored coincides with the release of the video for the new single The Middle.

Perhaps surprisingly, given their metal pedigree, The Middle has a sense of chaotic danceability that shares more in common with Royal Blood than Metallica. Indicating the boys are very keen to carve out their own sonic path.

Speaking on the announcement of Once Bit Never Bored, Taipei Houston offered an explanation for the artistic direction and intentions of the band and the forthcoming release.

“To us, Taipei Houston is about going against the grain in every aspect. We live in a time that is ripe with extremely difficult and confusing challenges. Technology grips the world more and more, politics have become so polarised, we are heading towards climate disaster. This music is born and bred out of the contemporary, buzzing digital anxiety we all experience, and how we can try to escape those feelings – even for a second.”

The Middle follows an earlier single As The Sun Sets in previewing Once Bit Never Bored.

Taipei Houston are currently touring the United States with appearances on major festivals Louder Than Life, Aftershock and Austin City Limits.

Taipei Houston continue the trend of Metallica members children pursuing music with James Hetfield's son, Castor Hetfield releasing an album Is This Rage? with his band Bastardane earlier this year and Rob Trujillo's son Tye Trujillo a virtuoso who has already toured with Korn, Suicidal Tendencies and his own band Reckless. He also reportedly played guitar during the infamous Master Of Puppets scene in the Stranger Things season four finale.
