An Elderly Maniac Tribute

Does anyone ever look at the elderly and think what will I be like when I’m that age? Even the most metal metalheads would have doubt in they’re own blasting, headbanging ability gone 80 years of age. Well now I’ve seen this following story, I feel I need to make a vow that I will do my best to stay as metal for as long as this fine fellow managed.

Hailing from Herefordshire, England, Owen Brownwas a head banger to behold. A self-confessed die-hardMegadeth, Maiden, Priest and KISS fan. He was often heard to be blaring these bands from his home at top volume.

Unfortunately Owen, the genre’s oldest fan, passed away this week at the age of 87 having fallen victim to cancer five years ago. His son, a 61-year-old drummer said he was often up until the early hours of the morning listening to ‘really loud rock music’.

The Brown family are ensuring he gets the send-off he would want to an array of brutal riffs and rock by choosing Megadeth’s 'Skin Of My Teeth’ for the final profession at his funeral service. Now that’s the way to go. Megadeth themselves managed a tweet for their oldest fan.

Over recent years Owen became famous for his service and commitment to metal and the likes of Black Sabbath and Def Leppard started to send him gear.

We at Maniacs would just like to send our deepest wishes and utmost respect for the oldest Maniac we’ve ever heard of. R.I.P Sir. But with all the metal you could ever hope for.
