One day after officially being announced as the new drummer of Slipknot, Eloy Casagrande has released a heartfelt statement thanking the band for 'trusting' him with the role.
Posted to his official social channels overnight, the man charged with filling the void left by the ousted Jay Weinberg and the late Joey Jordison wrote "It’s an exciting moment. Unthinkable until then. There is nothing to lose, there is nothing to win. There is just living. We’re here as one. Thank you Slipknot for trusting me. Thanks to all the maggots and fans around the world. See you on the road. Here comes more pain."
Widely considered among the best metal drummers in the world, the former Sepultura stickman made is live Slipknot debut at their intimate Californian show last week, following it up with his first festival appearance with the band at Sick New World.
Slipknot officially welcomed Eloy into the band via their social media channels yesterday, posting a simple message of "Slipknot officially welcomes Eloy Casagrande", accompanied by a photo of Eloy in his new mask and jumpsuit.
The official welcome ended the near-constant rumours that Eloy was the man to replace the ousted Jay Weinberg, leaving the identity of their new keyboardist and sampler as the only mystery remaining for fans to solve as the band launches into an era in which they'll celebrate the 25th anniversary of their breakthrough self-titled record.
Following their performance at Sick New World, the band shared a photo of their new lineup, masks and jumpsuits.
