Prior to the release of their feverishly anticipated fourth album 'The Weight of the Mask', we caught up with Svalbard guitarist/vocalist Serena Cherry for an engaging conversation about Svalbard’s journey to the verge of metal stardom, and in the process unearth a unique connection to the late Joey Jordison that’ll melt even the most blackened of metal hearts.

Genre-bending English metal act Svalbard have released a tribute to all the metal legends that have passed away. Inspired primarily by the passing of Slipknot drummer and Murderdolls guitarist Joey Jordison, the emotionally and sonically heavy Eternal Spirits Issued via Nuclear Blast is a fitting way to pay respect to our fallen metal icons. 

To celebrate the upcoming release of Roadrunner United The Concert on vinyl, Roadrunner Records have shared the full video of one of the night's standout performances, (sic) by Slipknot. The video features an unmasked Corey Taylor, Joey Jordison and Paul Gray of Slipknot teaming up with Scott Ian (Anthrax), Dino Cazares (Fear Factory/Divine Heresy), Andreas Kisser (Sepultura) and Tommy Vext (ex-Bad Wolves/Divine Heresy) to unleash a hellacious rendition of (sic).

It's crazy to think that it's been 21 years since Slipknot released their debut self-titled album, and it looks like the band's former drummer Joey Jordison is in the same boat, posting a touching reflective piece to Instagram on its 21st anniversary.

There's understandably a lot of Slipknot-related content swirling around the web right now, and this new mini-documentary on how drummer Jay Weinberg joined the band is truly fascinating.
