    Masters of elegance, melodrama and symphonic grandeur, Within Temptation are one of European metals greatest success stories. The sheer beauty of their trademark sound is an exhilarating listen a monument of opulent melodies, sweeping orchestral arrangements and tremendous, building power. Within Temptation posesses depth and an enchanting element of fantasy that has put them at the fore of the symphonic metal genre.

    We recently asked vocalist Sharon Den Adel and guitarist Robert Westerholt a few questions including why they chose Metal! Read on to see what he had to say



    WHY DID YOU CHOOSE METAL?

    SHARON - My first love was Nirvana, which is grunge, later I got into Metal because of Robert (Westerholt). I fell in love with Paradise Lost and Type O Negative. I loved the heavy tunes in combination with melody.

    ROBERT - I guess, the record collection of my parentsElvis and Abba for me and The Eagles, Journey and ELO for Sharon. I always loved the overwhelming rush, the adventurous, the mysterious and the out off the ordinary which all comes together in metal.


    WHATS THE BEST KIND OF METAL?

    SHARON The melodic ones, Iron Maiden, Ozzy Osborne, so many different bands.

    ROBERT From Pantera, Carcass to Alter bridge, Linkin Park, Iron Maiden and Metallica. Always a sucker though for strong riffs, hooks and melodies.


    WHY WOULD YOU ENCOURAGE OTHERS TO
    CHOOSE METAL?

    SHARON Why not? I wont recommend just metal, I recommend any music I like. It can be any kind as long as it touches me. It doesnt need to be metal.

    ROBERT Ha ha, I dont and I dont have to. If metal is for you it will cross your pathyou will be drawn to itinescapable!
