You know the Grammy Awards, that thing that happens every year in America where usually the most popular artist in any given genre wins an award for their album? It's kind of like the Golden Globes of music.
As a heavy music fan you'd be forgiven for not really knowing much about them (or caring, for that matter) given that the ceremony does put a big focus on more mainstream music, but nonetheless there are categories for rock and metal, and even being nominated for a Grammy is a big deal in every sense.
With that said, nominations for the 61st Grammy Awards in February have just been released and there is actually a surprisingly decent nod to rock and metal. The likes of Bring Me The Horizon, Trivium, Alice In Chains and Ghost are all up for awards for their stellar releases/performances this year along with some more surprising bands like The Fever 333, Deafheaven and High On Fire making the shortlist too. The list for each heavy category can be found below, and you can also head to the official Grammys website for a full list of nominations across the board.
