Collaborations have been all the rage in 2022 with Bring Me The Horizon expanding their lengthy list with that Ed Sheeran featureHealth recruiting Lamb Of God for Cold Blood, and Matt Heafy working with Nergal from Behemoth and Ihsahn from Emperor on Akumu for his Ibaraki black metal project.

With rumours of a Dani Filth and Ed Sheeran collab on the way and a confirmed guest appearance by My Chemical Romance singer Gerard Way on that Ibaraki record,  the desire for metalheads to engage in some cross-genre sonic exploration seems to be reaching a fever-pitch.

With this in mind, we took a bit of a deep dive through metal's storied history of collaboration with others genres to compile this list of 11 wild but wonderful collabs that prove that metal goes well with pretty much anything.

Anthrax Public Enemy - Bring The Noise

Alice In Chains + Elton John - Black Gives Way To Blue

Bring Me The Horizon + Lights - Crucify Me

The Dillinger Escape Plan + Jarren Benton - Rage

Every Time I Die + Brendon Urie - It Remembers

    Linkin Park + JAY-Z - Numb/Encore

Lou Reed + Metallica - The View

Run The Jewels + Zack De La Rocha - (Close Your Eyes and Count To F*Ck)

Soulfly + Sean Ono Lennon - Son Song

Trash Talk + Tyler The Creator + Hodgy Beats - Blossom & Burn
