Anonymous masked collective Sleep Token have released an otherworldly video for their moody new single The Love You Want.
The second single to be released from their upcoming second studio album This Place Will Become Your Tomb, The Love You Want is a haunting moodpiece that seduces you into a place of uneasy discomfort. Delicate vocals sit atop an atmospheric production with both building in volume and emotional intensity as Sleep Token climb to a dramatic, all-encompassing climax.
The cinematic video sees the songs sombre sentimentality amplified, with the anonymous masked protagonist seemingly trapped in a world where the only love they are capable of is the unrequited kind. As a group of what appear to be potential suitors dance in beautifully choreographed sequences, amidst a dimly lit cave backdrop and the masked figure walks forward with a sword, there appears to be an implication that all this emotional violence is preordained. That it could never be and will ever be any other way. It is superbly shot and follows on from the narrative of the equally odd and somewhat unsettling video for Alakaline which Sleep Token released in June.
The unique, broad-based vision of one individual, Sleep Token‘s second studio album, This Place Will Become Your Tomb, a new 12-track offering that delves further into the enigmatic universe of Sleep Token, pushing boundaries and blurring genres, while retaining the signature sound, will be released September 24 on Spinefarm.
