Metal is a way of life. Being a Maniac is a way of life. These ways of life tend to go hand in hand. Thats why we thought it about time we noted our favourite crazy moments at metal gigs. Just mentally epic shit going down! (Red hyper-links for clips!)

Avenged Sevenfolds monumental Circle Pit. Rock am Ring, Germany pulls some insane crowds and was always going to be heavily involved in a piece like this. A7X certainly know how to get a crowd going and Matt managed to get two of the maddest circle pits weve ever seen spinning absolute mayhem.

Slipknot shred Duality at Rock in Rio. Slipknot are the definition of live performers and to be frank we could have chosen from a hundred of their live moments. So when they played Rock in Rio in 2011 in front of this almighty South American crowd it was bound to go off. Paired with some insane crowd diving, Duality smashed Brazil to pieces.

MetallicaMake Seattle Their Puppets.Metallica are untouchable when it comes to most things metal. This show in Seattle, 1989 is often talked up as the best metal gig in history. I still to this day cannot comprehend how Hetfieldmanages to shred and sing to such a standard simultaneously. Insane.

Spit It Out and Jump The Fuck Up! The ’Disasterpieces’ DVDwas an almighty triumph in itself. This is my favourite moment from it all though as Corey Taylor gets the crowd to play out a little scenario for him! With the odd exception it went down a treat and London went nuts.

DevilDriver With Full Force. Germany is known for it’s mad metal scene and has an abundance of rocking festivals. With Full Force always goes off and when you pair that with DevilDriver'sbiggest shredder this is the end result. Pandemonium.

DevilDriver Football Pitch Pit @ Download. It’s no surprise that some of the acts are appearing twice. DevilDriver are one of best live bands on the planet and this mad pit they created at Download festival 2007 will take some beating! One guy even climbed a pillar to avoid it!

Biggest Wall of Death ever! Berlin punk band Die Arzte somehow conjured up this mega Wall of Death which is touted as the biggest on record! I feel for the four souls who thought it a legit idea to make their way into the middle before the chaos.

It turns ugly when you get turned away from a Slayer gig.In no way do we condone thisbehavior but we can understand how utterly gutting it can be to get turned away from seeing your favourite band. Slayerin this instance! Maybe buy a ticket in advance next time guys.

Anthrax reunite after 18 years at Download 2005!We have to sign off with this. The legends of thrash, Anthrax, with their classic lineup performing their first show for 18 years at Download festival. Among The Living reunited! Spine-tingling!
