Madonna is probably one of the last names you would ever associate with anything Pantera-related, but in 2009 she actually covered part of the band's track 'A New Level' from the seminal record A Vulgar Display of Power.

The moment came in a 2009 Buenos Aires show at the end of her track 'Hung Up', when she broke out into the main riff from the cult track. It's pretty unexpected, and we guarantee a huge percentage of the attending crowd would have no idea what was happening!

Madonna's guitarist Monte Pittman was also a member of the heavy metal band Prong, and showed her the Pantera riff in a rehearsal, after which she decided to put it in the show.

Granted, it's not entirely true to the original (record scratching, really?), but Madonna's skill on the guitar is somewhat surprising and her drummer also does an awesome job.

Check it out below - the Pantera tribute starts at 4:36:

Another little fun fact about Madonna - did you know that she signed Deftones to her label Maverick to put out their debut record Adrenaline back in 1995? The more you know!

    Listen to Pantera now.
