Listen to Layne Staley's Vocal Doppelganger on New Track

If there's one voice in music that's instantly recognisable, it would be the late Alice In Chains vocalist Layne Staley, who left behind a massive legacy when he passed away in April 2002.

While we've really missed any new music with Layne's golden pipes on it, we now have what might be the closest thing possible with Brendan Maier, who currently fronts the band Chout and sounds almost EXACTLY like Staley.

Back in 2017, Metalsucks discovered the dude while he was in his previous band Skorned, which left everyone amazed at how well he was able to emulate Layne's style. Check out a song from that band below:

Since then, Skorned have disbanded and he's now in the Chicago-based Chout, which is just as bloody impressive:

Some sleuths out there managed to work out that Brendan was actually in an Alice In Chains cover band called Facelift a few years ago, which makes complete sense. It will be very interesting to follow this guy over the coming years - we'd kill to see Alice In Chains perform a special set with this guy at the helm...

We're honestly speechless with how close this Brendan Maier guy comes to sounding exactly like Layne. What is the explanation? Some kind of illegitimate son or what? Somebody please have answers for us!

Listen to Alice In Chains now.
