Sydney-based Metal outfit Our Last Enemy have today dropped their new single Decline Atrophy via Octane Records. The industrial track is taken from their upcoming EP As Above, So Below due for release on May 14th, 2021.

Decline Atrophy takes the listener through a spectrum of sonic assault ranging from pensive riffs, fast-paced drum & bass grooves, powerhouse vocals interweaved with cinematic multi-dimensional orchestral layers.

The track is relentless almost in its entirety but takes an unexpected melodic and theatrical twist two thirds of the way through which is a sweet multi-layered reprieve.  If you’re into bands like Fear Factory, Slipknot, Machine Head or Black Dahlia Murder, you’re going to dig this.

“Lyrically the song deals with themes of wasted opportunity or a failure to see one's full potential.  It was reflective of the tumultuous time the band was in and how long the record was taking.” Says vocalist Oliver Fogwell opening up about frustrations of feeling like his career was stalled during the EP’s writing process.

Our Last Enemy relaunched early 2020 after a long hiatus releasing several singles and videos off the forthcoming release. Reflecting on the roll-out which was somewhat stalled by the pandemic, Fogwell shares, “It's been like slowing revealing the pieces to a puzzle - and watching people's reaction as they see each one individually, and then how it relates to the whole design. and a great feeling to have everyone around you firing on all cylinders again!"

Guitarist Wade Norris shares from a musical perspective, Decline Atrophy "Twists and turns from being fast, heavy, and aggressive to having parts that are layered in orchestral and melodic vocals. I was really inspired by the work of Jim Steinman (Meatloaf, Bonnie Tyler) when composing the Synth/Orchestra in the climax trying to really push the ending into sounding like a heavy metal rock orchestra! RIP Jim"

Following a successful release of their debut album Fallen Empires which reached #1 on the iTunes Metal charts, Our Last Enemy have shared stages with Static X, Combichrist, Perturbator, and Fozzy, as well as having their music remixed by various artists including Divine Heresy, the band has irrefutably made their mark on the international scene.

With their recent signing to Octane Records, this is Our Last Enemy thriving in their prime: mature, sophisticated, and deliberate.
