Byron Bay's In Hearts Wake have released a fourth single off their next record Kaliyuga, which is slated for an August 7 release.
Titled 'Dystopia', the track explores the concept of the album's title, and the last of the four Hindu Yugas:
“Dystopia speaks of the fourth cycle and present age of the world known in Hinduism as ‘Kaliyuga’. ‘Kaliyuga’ is often referred to as the dark age due to the predominate traits of discord, disconnection, destruction, materialism, oppression, cruelty and fear.
We look for the cause to cast the blame, but humanity need only look itself in the mirror. It is time for us to face and overcome the issues and challenges that currently threaten all life on Earth.”
The accompanying music video contrasts stunning imagery of the planet Earth in different environments with the rise of human-built structures and greed resulting in the downfall of the world.
It's a visual experience that compliments the audio nicely - have a watch below:
In Hearts Wake have always been committed to backing up their message with real-world efforts, even going so far as measuring the total carbon footprint left by the creation of their recording process with Kaliyuga and purchasing carbon credits to offset it entirely.
The band also announced that they will plant one native tree in Australia come spring for every 1,000 views the YouTube video for their previous single 'Worldwide Suicide' gets (at the time of writing, that's 286 trees).
Check out the last single 'Hellbringer' too, which features Polaris vocalist Jamie Hails!
