    East Capri 2021

Brisbane duo East Capri sure know how to pack an emotional punch and on their latest emotive haymaker, Danger To Myself they hit a knockout blow.

An anthemic alt-rocker with a soaring chorus that will pierce your defences on the first play,  Danger To Myself follows the turmoil of unhealthy coping mechanisms adopted after the passing of a loved one.

Guitarist and songwriter Jackson Deasy gives some insight on the track which is premiering exclusively on Maniacs today.

This song follows the year after Eden's mother’s passing. Becoming self-aware of the destructive tendencies that were realised while coping with such a loss and how they effected the people around him.

Eden didn't understand how damaging his coping mechanisms were becoming until after seeking help from his therapist after being urged by his brother. This created a lightbulb moment for Eden and helped him understand that he was in fact not okay despite thinking he was. A lot of the lyrics recite the intrusive thoughts and feelings built up when alone during this time.

The third track to be released from East Capri's debut EP  Wake n Repeat is accompanied by a music video by  Third Eye Visuals (Parkway Drive, In Hearts Wake, Alpha Wolf) that amplifies the intensity of the lyrical message while establishing East Capri's own signature aesthetic.

A product of shared musical interests and influences, East Capri have exploded onto the Aussie heavy music scene since releasing their debut single Wake n Repeat  in June,  with the likes of Triple M Hard N Heavy, triple j's Short.Fast.Loud and even Channel 7's Friday Night Football, giving East Capri a spin.  Second single Liberate has had a similar response, setting the scene perfectly for Danger To Myself to blast the duo into the spotlight.

Mixed and mastered by Lance Prenc (Polaris, Alpha Wolf), East Capri's debut EP Wake n Repeat will be released on Friday 27th August and vocalist Eden Cartright indicates that there's plenty more emotional cleansing in store for us all.

This record shows a deep side of tragedy and pain, and through the writing process we really grew a strong bond not only as a band but as lifelong friends" explains Cartwright. Writing and creating was the biggest factor in helping us cope through some seriously tough and isolating times. If you like the sound of Danger To Myself  then give the video for Wake n Repeat a watch below.
