Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian has posted a heartfelt public tribute to his late father-in-law, Meat Loaf.

Ian who is married to Meat Loaf's daughter Pearl Aday (the two also have a band, Motor Sister), took to social media to share his thoughts and memories of his iconic father-in-law, who passed away this past Friday.

Ian took to his personal Instagram  to post family photos featuring Meat Loaf, his two daughters Amanda and Pearl and his grandson Revel. Revel is Ian's son.  The photos which can be seen below were captioned with the following message.

"There are so many stories to tell, and I know they will all be told over time. For now, what I know is that Meat's legacy will live on through his family — Pearl, Amanda and Revel. Their forever love for their father/grandfather (Papa Meat) outweighs the heaviness of their hearts."

A massive outpouring of love has spread across the rock community following the passing on of Meat Loaf and Ian added a thank you for it to his post

"Thank you to everyone for the outpouring of love, we feel it. … I love you Meat"

The death of Meat Loaf (birth name Michael Lee Aday) has inspired some deep reflections from all across the rock and metal world, with artists ranging from Queen's Brian May to Alice Cooper to Disturbed's David Dramain, Living Colour's Vernon Reid and Megadeth's Dave Mustaine.  At Maniacs we extend our deepest condolences on the passing of a truly unique icon.
